Duane Freyberger is Director of Insights at Safety Management Group, where he leads a team dedicated to delivering high-value safety assessments, program development, and training solutions tailored to client needs across industries. With 25 years of environmental, health, and safety leadership experience, including global project oversight and executive operations, Duane brings a broad, pragmatic perspective to every engagement. 

He joined SMG in 2023 through the acquisition of Trinity Safety Group, where he served as Vice President of Operations. Soon after, he deployed to Saudi Arabia to lead SMG’s work on a high-profile SABIC project, drawing on his deep familiarity with the region and culture after 11 years working with Saudi Aramco. Following the project’s completion, Duane returned to the U.S. to take on his current leadership role. 

Over his career, Duane has held senior EHS positions in manufacturing, consulting, and global oil and gas. Having spent much of his career on the client side before moving into consulting, he approaches each engagement with a practical understanding of operational realities. He is known for taking the time to truly get to know clients, understand their processes, and follow through to ensure their needs are met. This focus on detail and relationship-building allows him to uncover root causes and design safety systems that work in real-world conditions. 

Duane earned his Bachelor of Science in Safety Management from Indiana State University and holds the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) credentials. Known for his disciplined and analytical approach, he pairs technical expertise with a genuine commitment to listening, understanding, and delivering results that matter. 

Whether in the field or the boardroom, Duane is driven by a simple goal: to help organizations move beyond compliance and create safety cultures where people look out for each other, leaders lead by example, and safe work is second nature.
