Randy Gieseking Frame 268x300 2Randy Gieseking was named the President of Safety Management Group in January 2015 and prior to this he served as the Vice President of Safety Services. In this role, Randy provides leadership and support for our safety service teams, which includes 8 Team Managers and over 100 safety professionals. Prior to becoming Vice President of Services, he served as the Service Team Manager for the Owner Services Team at a global pharmaceutical company and our Health Services Team at IU Health.

Following graduation, Randy was a safety consultant for Heritage Group Safety Services (Indianapolis), served as the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for Reynolds Aluminum (Auburn) and later became the Regional Environmental Health and Safety Manager for Reynolds Auburn and Lebanon (VA) facilities.

Personal Details

Outside of work Randy enjoys spending time with his Wife Laura and their 2 daughters. Randy has coached youth basketball and softball and enjoys time on the golf links as well as hunting in the fall and winter months.

Ron Hanson joined Safety Management Group in 1994 and is the Vice President of Operations. He provides support for the Company’s Legal, Accounting, Business Development, Recruiting, Human Resources, and Information Technology areas.

Ron received a Bachelor of Science in Safety Management from Indiana State University in 1993. He held the designation of Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals from 2001-2015. Ron served as the secretary/ treasurer for the Indiana Subcontractors Association (ISA) from 2012-2015 and was on the Board of Directors from 2008-2015.  Previously, he served on the board of directors for the Metro Indianapolis Construction Coalition for Safety (MICCS).

During his first years with the organization, Ron assisted with management of the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) for a large pharmaceutical conglomerate with facilities in Lafayette, IN and Indianapolis, IN. During this time, he was responsible for the safe construction of a $300 million Laboratory Process Expansion, a $71 million Laboratory Building, and over $250 million in related maintenance projects at both facilities. From 2002-2005, Ron managed the safe delivery of a $500 million project that included a chemical pilot plant, biotechnical research laboratory and an administrative building for a global pharmaceutical company based in Indianapolis.

In addition to the pharmaceutical OCIP projects, Ron oversaw the construction safety of the $198 million Conseco Fieldhouse and Virginia Avenue Parking Structure for the City of Indianapolis.

During the course of his career, Ron has also been involved with numerous projects for clients such as Honda Motor Company, Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Navistar International, Mitsubishi Motors, Johnson Controls, and many other related clients and suppliers throughout the country. Several of these projects involved press, die cast, and robotics installations and overhauls.

 

Personal Details

Ron is married and has two daughters. His interests include the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indianapolis 500, golfing and spending time with his family.

Rebecca L. OgleRebecca joined Safety Management Group in April 2018 as the growing company’s Chief Financial Officer. Rebecca’s objectives include integration of accounting systems and processes to provide accurate reporting and forecasting, combined with appropriate internal controls and best practices to support the company and its clients as well as guide the growth and longevity of the company.

Rebecca spent 22 years in public accounting; she was a partner for the last 9 years, recently serving as the assurance principal in Somerset CPAs, P.C.’s Construction and A/E Team. Rebecca was a trusted advisor to her clients in the construction and A/E industries; she gained extensive experience in financial reporting and consulting in areas of internal controls, operational efficiencies and tax planning.

She received her Bachelor of Science in accounting with a minor in business and graduated cum laude from Franklin College in 1996. Rebecca earned her Certified Public Accountant credential in August 1999, her Chartered Global Management Accountant designation in August 2014, her Certified Fraud Examiner credential in February 2013, and her Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional credential in November 2015.

Rebecca is a 2003 graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy LEAD program. In recognition of her contribution and dedication to the CPA profession, Rebecca received the “Five Under 35” Award from the Indiana CPA Society in 2006. In 2008, she was recognized as a Super CPA by the Indiana CPA Society.

Rebecca served as an executive officer from April 2012 to March 2016 on the board of directors for the Construction Financial Management Association and is currently serving as the Golf Chair. She is a member and past board member of the Indiana Subcontractors Association. Rebecca is also a member of the Indiana CPA Society, the American Institute of CPAs and, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Central Indiana Chapter.

Rebecca serves as treasurer of the board of directors for both her community’s Homeowners Association and Westfield Youth Sports, Inc. She holds a third-degree black belt at Westfield Family Karate.

Rebecca lives in Westfield with her husband of 20 years, Jason, and their two sons.

Mike Martin joined Safety Management Group in 2001 and currently manages a team delivering services to the power utilities industry. Prior to leading this team, he managed the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) for the New Indianapolis Airport Project and also served as a Global Facilities Delivery Project Safety Advisor for the SMG’s Owner Services Group.He is a 1998 graduate of Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Safety Management. Mike has obtained the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification and Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) designation.

Before joining SMG, Mike worked for Graycor Industrial Contractors, Inc. at several projects including: A.K. Steel (Rockport), U.S. Steel (Gary), Wisconsin Electric Power (Port Washington/Kenosha), Aux Sable, Inc., and Daimler-Chrysler Corp (Indianapolis).

Stu Hanebuth is the Vice President of Utilities and VERO at Safety Management Group. Stu has over 25 years of experience in the electric power industry. Over the last 25 years, he has held key leadership roles in electric transmission, distribution, and engineering for utilities and service providers.

His experience in the utility sector includes managing responses to large environmental incidents, maintenance of underground and overhead T&D infrastructure, the development of analytical tools to gain insight into large-scale operational data, and the implementation and optimization of multi-million-dollar capital programs.

Stu understands the complex regulatory and financial challenges that utilities face when developing and implementing programs. He is recognized as an innovative thinker with the proven ability to take large sets of complex data and quickly refine them into meaningful, actionable, information. By working collaboratively with utilities his insights have saved utilities hundreds of millions of dollars.

While Vice President at Power Survey, he led the sales and marketing efforts for a technology start-up in the utility space both domestically and internationally. Stu was a part of the team that successfully sold the company to Osmose Utilities Services in 2019.

Stu is a Senior Member of the IEEE and the IET in the UK. He has written several papers on topics associated with contact voltage and was a key contributor to the IEEE P-1695 Stray Voltage and Contact Voltage standard. He is also the Vice Chair of the IEEE ICC P2417 Manhole Event working group. Stu graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science.

Mark has held positions in the field of Occupational Safety and Health since 1997. He began his career as a Quality/ Safety Engineer for General Electric in Louisville, KY. At GE, he was involved with all health and safety programs related to Job Hazard Analysis, Six Sigma, ergonomics, as well as managing numerous training programs. Mark continued his career as safety engineer with Danis Environmental Industries in St. Petersburg, FL. At Danis, he was responsible for planning and organizing site-wide safety programs, auditing, training, environmental aspects and contractor safety. Since becoming a part of Safety Management Group in 2000, Mark has managed safety advisors and worked with a multitude of diverse clients within the pharmaceutical, construction, chemical, utility, and general industries.

In addition to holding positions as a site safety advisor, manager of special projects, and environmental manager at Safety Management Group, Mark has also consulted as an expert witness in several court cases and is currently an adjunct professor at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis teaching an undergraduate course in construction safety and OSHA standards.

Mark has a Bachelor of Science in Occupation Safety and Health, a Master of Science in Safety Management and a Doctor of Philosophy in Safety Engineering. He is a certified 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA instructor in Occupational Safety and Health Practices for the construction industry, has experience in ISO 14001/18000 lead auditor training, and has received his Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Utilities Safety Professional (CUSP) as well as his Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.

Chris Mitchell joined Safety Management Group in October 2001 and currently serves as the Account Manager for Owner Services. He has more than 20 years of experience within the HSE field and has developed multiple HSE management systems for a multibillion-dollar pharmaceutical company. Chris is experienced in Six Sigma Kaizen/Lean reviews and implementing efficiencies.

Within the Owner Services team, Chris previously served as the Prequalification Services Advisor, Owner Statewide Advisor, Laboratory Research Advisor, and Site Safety Advisor.

Chris received his Bachelor of Science in Safety Management from Indiana State University in 1997.

Chris earned his Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation in April 2006 and maintains a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation.

Chris served as a field tech for Valley Environmental Testing in Terre Haute, IN, as a safety engineer/tech for Farm Fans, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN, and completed an internship with the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Robb Tinney is the West Division Manager for Safety Management Group. He also serves as account manager for Global Contract Manufacturing, Inc., Pioneer Seeds, The Haskell Company, Mullen Crane & Transport, Inc., Orgill/Singer & Associates, and services a number of smaller clients primarily based in California and Nevada. Robb also provides loss control services for the State of Nevada and State agencies located in Las Vegas, NV and surrounding area.

In 2006, Robb was a safety advisor with the safety staffing team within Safety Management Group, and was assigned to a large OCIP project in the Lake Tahoe, Northern California area.

Robb originally joined Safety Management Group in 2001 and has provided services for the special projects group and the safety services group. He also managed the Loss Control Services Team for Safety Management Group.

Robb received his Safety Degree from ISU and has extensive experience in the General Industry field as a Safety Engineer for Mitchel & Scott Machine. Robb’s work at M&S included program development, training, environmental activities, and ISO Certification preparation.

Robb is an authorized OSHA outreach trainer for the OSHA 10 hour and 30 hour construction courses, authorized W110 trainer for Work at Height Rescue, and certified OHSAS 18001 Provisional Auditor.

Ron Eastham joined SMG in 2013 and is the Healthcare Services Manager. Ron manages a team that provides services to the facilities teams at a large healthcare system in Indiana and manages the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) for this client. Previous to this role, he provided support for several years to  clients in the utility industry.

Prior to joining SMG, Ron worked for Johnson Memorial Health as the Safety & Security officer for 12 years. He completed his Certified Healthcare Safety Professional in 2005.

He holds a master’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Indiana State University, CSP, CHST, CUSP, and STSC credentials and most recently completed the Executive Program through Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

Hollingsworth is committed to serve the community and demonstrates his pledge with being actively engaged on local and national safety committees and participating in multiple industry associations including the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS), Utility Safety & Ops Leadership Network (USOLN), Junior Achievement (JA), and Kids’ Chance.

Hollingsworth is a professional member of ASSP’s Central Indiana Chapter, which he has served roles of Vice President, Student Section Liaison, Construction Practice Specialty Special Projects Chair, Social Media Chair, Chapter Delegate and actively is the Golf Outing Chair. Hollingsworth founded the Future Safety Leaders Scholarship Golf Outing which has funded more than 25 scholarships to students pursuing a career in safety. He was named the chapter’s 2020 Safety Professional of the Year.

She has been with the company since March 2011 and has served in a variety of capacities, including administrative, payroll, benefits, and operations. Jessica has earned the Professional in Human Resources certification through the Human Resource Certification Institute and is a Certified Professional through the Society for Human Resource Management. She has also earned a Human Resource Specialist Certificate through the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. She holds  bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University. Jessica likes the variety that her role provides and enjoys working with and helping fellow SMG associates. She is a member of the Philanthropy Team and 401(k) committee. Brad Hunt joined Safety Management Group in 2004. Brad obtained a Bachelor of Science in Safety Management from Indiana State University in 2001. He served as a Safety and Human Resources Director for Eagle Services Corporation in Burns Harbor, IN from 2001 until 2004. In that role, he performed safety training, site observations, outage/shutdown safety oversight, and updated safety programs. Brad has also performed work in sales and residential construction. 

From 2004 to 2011, Brad worked with pharmaceutical and engine manufacturing companies to develop, implement, and manage contractor safety programs that exceeded OSHA requirements. Additionally, he led safety oversight for a multitude of multimillion-dollar construction projects. 

In 2011, Brad joined SMG’s Safety Services Group, where his role included developing written safety programs, performing jobsite observations, delivering safety training, and providing clients with safety representation. 

In 2016, Brad started his current role as Safety Services Manager. His duties include account management, safety advisor oversight, new project start up, site observations, training, performance management, and program development. 

Brad holds a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, is American Red Cross Certified First Aid, CPR, AED Instructor and is a subject matter expert in Confined Space Entry, Trenching and Excavation, and Fall Prevention and Protection. He has experience in incident investigationroot cause analysis, Contractor Safety Management Programs (CSMP), and Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP).

Craig joined Safety Management Group as a safety advisor in 2008. In 2013, he assumed the role of Safety Services Manager focusing on the utility and automotive industriesmanaging projects across the United States.  

Craig holds an Associate of Science in Construction Technology from Parkland Jr. College, an Associate of Science in Occupational Health and Safety from Columbia Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in Safety Engineering from Warren National College. Dave started with Safety Management Group in 2001 as Safety Advisor. He is currently an Account Manager at one of our largest clients in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Dave currently provides leadership for a team of Safety Advisors supporting multiple clients in the construction industry. 

Dave has received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Health and Safety Management from Indiana State University and has achieved the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification the Board of Certified Safety Professions. 

Prior to working with SMG, Dave was a Health and Safety Director for II in One Contractors, a Chicago based General Contractor, as well as a Safety Supervisor for Meade Electric in Joliet, Illinois.

Doug joined Safety Management Group in 2003 as a safety consultant. Since then, he has worked in various business units within our Owner Services group at a large pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. In 2015, he transitioned to an Account Manager role at medical device facility in Indianapolis where he manages a team providing oversight for large capital construction projects as well as facilities maintenance and construction. 

Before starting with SMG, Doug spent 9 years traveling the Midwestern and Eastern United States with a Pittsburgh-based industrial contractor that provided heavy construction services to the steel and power industries. During this time, he held various field and management roles. 

Doug achieved a Bachelor of Science in Safety Management from Indiana State University. During his career, he has worked to earn the professional designations of Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. In the past, Doug has also worked closely with the Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS) helping to coordinate volunteers and performing site audits for the annual CCS annual awards.

Eric B. Ward is the Manager of Environmental Services at SMG. Ward attended Morehead State University in Kentucky and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in the first Environmental Science program in the Eastern U.S. Ward has practical experience with environmental law and policy, site assessments, sampling and testing, as well as extensive permitting and construction experience. As the Manager of Environmental Services, Ward develops, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards at multiple locations throughout the central and eastern U.S. Ward establishes strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information, defines objectives, identifies and evaluates trends and options, chooses a course of action, and evaluates outcomes.
