Randy Gieseking
President
Randy Gieseking has served as President of Safety Management Group since 2015, guiding the organization’s strategic vision and championing its mission to create safer work environments across industries. With more than 30 years of experience in safety , he has led SMG through transformative growth, expanding its national footprint, broadening its service offerings, and fostering a culture where people remain at the center of every decision. Randy played a key role in developing and continues to actively promote SMG’s guiding purpose of bringing workers home safe at the end of the day, every day.
Randy earned his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety Management from Indiana State University in 1992 . His early career included safety leadership roles with Heritage Environmental and Reynolds Aluminum, where he served as Regional Safety Manager for manufacturing operations. He later joined Eli Lilly and Company as a Senior Health and Safety Representative, supporting large-scale pharmaceutical construction and operational safety initiatives.
In 1998, Randy joined SMG as a project safety representative, quickly earning leadership opportunities as Service Team Manager and Vice President of Services before being named President. Over his tenure, he has helped launch new service lines, establish industry-leading training programs, and build long-term partnerships with some of the nation’s most respected companies. He also serves on the following boards; Coalition for Construction Safety, Indiana Board of Safety Review and the American Subcontractors Association.
Randy is known for his hands-on leadership style and his genuine interest in getting to know SMG’s employees, clients, and the communities they serve. He works closely with both SMG teams and client leadership to align safety strategies with operational goals. He believes safety is both a technical discipline and a people-first commitment built on listening, communication, and trust. His early experience investigating serious workplace incidents instilled a lasting conviction that continues to shape his leadership and his dedication to the mission he helped define.
Outside of work, Randy enjoys golfing, hunting, and spending time with his wife Laura and their two daughters. He has also dedicated many seasons to coaching youth basketball and softball, carrying his team-first mindset into every arena.
